Cedar Falls Utilities provides electricity natural gas water high speed Internet and cable television services to a community of more than 37000 people. The municipal Electric Gas Water and Communications Utilities are four separate enterprises owned by the city of Cedar Falls and operated on a not-for-profit basis for community benefit.

The Utilities are governed by a five-member Board of Trustees. The Trustees establish utility policies and rates hire a general manager to oversee utility operations and approve the annual operating and capital budgets. CFU is organized into four strategic business units - Customer Services and Business Development Operations Finance and Organizational Services and Employee and Legal Services.
